There were still six spots left in the
Grand National final after the heat races
were completed. Schnabel quickly
snapped up the first one by pulling out
to a comfortable win ahead of a scrap
between Coolbeth and Gardner Racing/Waiters Brothers H-D's Dan Butler.
Coolbeth won the drag race do""n the
front chute to put Butler in the truck for
the night.
Stanley copied Schnabel's act in the
. second semi by springing clear of Frontier H-D/H-D Central's Dale Jenneman
and McCoy, who appeared out of contention in a distant third place. Stanley
completed his run at the front, while
McCoy caught a break after Jenneman
hit a pool of oil left by Corbin Racing's
Chance Darling and skidded off the
groove. McCoy pulled into second, and
gained entry to his third Grand National
of the year.
