Tresser doubles at Cycle Bowl ByMlkeLaw LOD~ CA APR. 19 "Show me the money!" shouted a jubilant Andy Tresser after winning both the Pro-Am Expert and Open A Short Track classes at the l:odi Cycle Bowl. Tresser powered his Harry Hoffman/Bob Wirth Racing Engines/85M Manufacturing-sponsored Wood Rolax to consistent 16second lap times, and absolutely walked away from the competition in the Open A short tracle event. Billy Martin pulled the perfect holeshot in the Pro-Am Expert short track followed by a harddriving Tresser down the back straight. After going from fourth to second position in e first two turns, Tresser patiently and persistently reeled in Martin. "I just waited for the fatal mistalce: Tresser said after the race. HI gained a foot here, and another foot there. He was a little twitchy in the comers, so I waited about four laps and went underneath him in the north tum.." A battle of the CR Hondas continued between Redwood City's Matt Gomez and Modesto's Brandon Inderbitzen in both the 80cc Expert Short Tracie and IT events. Inderbiizen fanies himself a short track artist, while Gomez prefers the IT events. • Inderbitzen absolutely rode the wheels off his bilce in the short track main and won by a wide margin. . HI needed to get a good start because he had more horslpower,· Inderbitzen said referring to Gomez. HIf I didn't spin off the line, I could beat him to the first tum. Once I got out in front, I could run down low in the comers and hold him off." Gomez wasn't quite as quick off the line as Inderbitzen in the IT main, and had to use a combination ofboth horsepower and finesse. HThe bike IiIced to spin so I had to lean bacle on the seat and get as much traction as I could: Gomez said. HI tried to push him hard in the infield and around the tree tum where I was comfortable. Once I got him there, I had him." Charlie Simas dusted the competition in the Pee Wee Stock Yamaha short track, then doubled up for a win on ·the IT in the same class despite a hard-charging Justin Jorgensen. Jesse Kreyling was the big winner in the Vintage Short Track classes. Kreyling piloted his beautifully prepared Bultaco to victory in the Two-Stroke class, then returned on a Honda in the Four-Stroke class, blasting his way to a win over Malt Proto. ~ Amateur $25.00 Expert $35.00 0/25& 30 $25.00 ~ ShodT_ P!W STX HONDk 1.
