Bess busts a move at Starwest Motocross By Tony Alessi MORENO VALLEY, CA, APR. 19 Team Suzuki's Shane Bess made all the right moves en route to the overall win in the 80cc (12-13) division during round four of the Starwest Spring Night Series at Starwest Supercross Park. Bess didn't pull any 'punches, by grabbing holeshols.in both motos on his FMF-tuned RM80 and simply ran away from the field, which included both older (14-16) and younger (7-11) divisions. . Bess was preparing for the Ponca City qualifiers, which are scheduled for May and June, from which the top 12 riders in the region will be eligible to race the Grand National Championships in Ponca City, Oklahoma, in early August. Tyson Talkington gave his dad Scott a birthday present by winning both 80cc (7-11) Beginner-class motos over Jeff Alessi. In the first moto, Talkington had a three-way battle to the wire with Talkington coming out on top. The second moto saw Talkington grab the holeshot and roost away for an uncontested vietory over Alessi and Mike laPaglia.· Alex Zapata looked like he needed someone to race with in the Vet class. Zapata won both motos of competition on his Yamaha of Cucamonga-backed YZ250 by a 4O-second margin. Chris Taylor won. the 25+ Beginner class over Allen Tungate in only his third~ver race and celebrated his fine ride with a full heel-dicker at.the finish line. Results S.Iftert (Wn); 4.
