Byron FricI< topped the 250cc Intermediate class
at the ~g round of the Roosters 4)(4 and
Motorcycle Superstore Spring High-Point Series
at Phillipsville MX. Over 250 riders were on
hand to enjoy perfecl track condilions on the
Ken Beebe-designed course.
The 2SOcc Intermediate races saw Honda-
mounted Scotty Turner grab the hoJeshot with
Zack Bignon, Tom Elsea, Pete Ellis, Travis Rock,
jerry johnson, Chris Bell, Frick and the rest giving chase. Frick moved past Johnson early on,
then continued to move up through the leaders
at a rate of about one pass per lap. Frick's
progress was stalled when he reached Bignon,
and the two battled for the last two laps, but
Bignon held fast to win over FricI<, Turner, Ellis
and Elsea.
Frick's Blankenship Trucking-backed
Kawasaki was quick off the gate in moto two,
and paced the field for the entire seven-lap race.
Taking second in the moto was Ellis, with
Bignon, Lars Burnside and Turner placing third
through fifth.
Frick also did well in the Unlimited class,
(open to any sportsman rider), though he was
no match for Kawasaki-mounted Kervyn Cole.
Cole holeshot, then led every lap over fellow
O&E Cycles-backed racer Zack Woodward, with
Frick third in moto one and Kris Howes notching a third place for the second moto. Turner
posted a pair of fourth-place finishes to notch
third overall Taking fourth overall was Craig
Holt with a 50S score; Frick rounded out the top
five thanks to a 3-8 moto tally.
The Expert classes were a runaway for popular pro rider Jake Windham, 'who wowed the
crowd with his aerial stunts en route to both the
12Scc and 250cc Pro wins. Giving chase in the
250cc class was Ricky Crenshaw, who turned a
pair of thirds into second overall, besting
Kervyn Cole and Mickey Crenshaw. Windham
topped Dusty Jackson and j .R. Mason in the
12Scc class.
