Guy and Wanda Cooper hosted a successful
weekend of racing, which was an AMA area qualifier, at their new Cooperland Motocross track,
where Stillwater's own Kenny Bertram walked
away with back-ta-back 250cc Pro moto wins.
The first moto was action·packed as Suzuki's
Brandon Lacey stole the holeshot with Bertram
close behind, and Yamaha's Jason Owens third.
Lacey and Bertram battled unlil the end of the second lap when Bertram made an unbelievable pass
in the outside hairpin comer. Lacey managed to
stay dose in second place until the fourth lap
when Bertram put the distance between them with.
obvious eaSe, while Justin Wohletz pressured
Owens and eventually made the move into third,
Moto two belonged to Bertram although he
had to work a little harder for the first few laps
of the race. Jason Owens grabbed the holeshot
with Wohietz momentarily in second, Bertram
third and Suzuki's James McDonald fourth. At'
the end of the first lap Bertram was challenging
Owens with McDonald trailing. Bertram once
again easily pulled away and ~ the checkered flag, Owens held onto second while
Wohietz battled his way into third-place finish.
