EBC BRAKES EBC Brakes Would Like to Congratulate " Mr. D iI Y t 0 i1 a " !i cott. RU!i!iell 4 Time Daytona i!OD Winner During the fourth lap, Ball and Jensen were battling hard for the lead up the steep west-end horseshoe when Ball hit a deep rut and went sailing over the bars with the bike on a roll after him. Ball recovered, but not until Jensen and Henderson squeaked by for first and second. Meanwhile, Jensen took off and was opening up a sizable lead over Henderson, Ball, Noriega and Hill. The remaining four laps saw a couple of changes in positions, with Jensen taking the win followed by; Ball, Henderson, Noriega and Riddle in fifth. The start of the second moto again saw Ball with the lead, but more tough luck slipped in on him as he fell again on the first lap. Jensen was right there and moved into first, a position he would keep through the finish. With Bailon the ground, the rest of the class pressed forward and charged after Jensen. While Ball struggled to regain his composure and get back on pace, Jensen, Henderson, Riddle, Noriega and Hill walked away to the finish. Jensen earned the overall win with back-to· back mota wins, with Henderson second, Riddle third, Noriega fourth and Ball rounding out the top five. Douglas does it at Prairie City GP By Gary Buth SACRAMENTO, CA, MAR. 16 Jerry Douglas aboard his Team Calamari YZSO/YSR took the NCMRRA SOee GP victory at Prairie City SVRA in Sacramento. On a day filled with clouds and rain, Douglas launched and navigated his machine into the lead from the drop of the nag. Cautiously the pack of rid· ers engaged the first few wet and wild comers. Douglas was followed closely by new Team Calamari rider Dan Merlino and a very inspired Paul Varize. Steve Foster, Warren Atkins and Michael Lynn staked their claims for a dry line and the battle for fourth. Douglas and Merlino led onto the main straight and Varize would follow, keeping the early race action hot. The wet pavement would prove to be the literal downfall for Varize as his freshly painted machine found the limits of traction before the main straight on lap number two. With the pack shufned and Douglas dealing, the lessons of consistency would soon be at hand. Merlino lost ground to Douglas, whose dirt track experience was paying huge dividends on the damp pavement, and Lynn was holding down third with Foster trying to keep close enough to make an attack. Atkins found Ray Ruggles and Brian Short ready to give it a go for fifth but rain and good sense kept the challenge in check. By the midway point Douglas had the race well in hand. Varize, who had fallen earlier, was at this point about to be \lipped by the leaders. Foster could not reel in Lynn to pose a threat for third and the string of riders circled in single file. At the checkers it was Douglas and Merlino followed by Lynn, all happy to be on the box and nolon the ground. CN Results STK: 1. Cory Call (Yam); 2. Tony Callen (Yam); 3. Sam Oorser 4.
