Paul Malin eased back onto the scene
after his recent back injuries with a ninth
qualifying ti(lle on Saturday and explained
what actually happened in and since Indonesia. -I first fe~ a twinge when I carne in from
a 40,minLJte riding session on the Monday
before the GP. - Malin said. "I had a mas'lage that evening and went out for a slow
ride on Tuesday.. The rear end of the bike
shot· up 6n some braking bumps and my
back just gave way. I tried resting after that
but I was still in pain so I had an injection
from the AM doctor before practice. It went
again on the last lap and I was in acute pilin.
so bad that I couldn·t sleep all night. I just got
up on Sunday morning. packed my things
and came home. As soon as I got back to
the U.K. I went for a scan and two slipped
discs. and a trapped nerve were diagnosed. '.
David· Vuille·min lopks like the next
French ri·der to leave the GP scene to ride·

Heikki Van den Berg of"the newly established Galvin team being run by Hany Nolte.
Hany has two riders in his team this year and
the other one is called Heikki Van ·den Bery:
