An Oregon state judge found former Oregon state politician Wes Cooley, ROregon, guilty of lying about his military record in the state voters' pamphlet in 1996, according to a report in the National Journal. In an agreement worked out with prosecuters, Cooley did not challenge the facts as presented by assistant state attorney general Byron Chatfield. Cooley, 64, was placed on two years' probation, ordered to do 100 hours of community service and pay a $5000 fine and $2100 in court costs. Various documents and witnesses showed that Cooley never served in Korea, as he had claimed, Chatfield said. Cooley, who was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1994, withdrew his bid for re-election last year amid controversy over the voters' pamphlet and whether his wife had properly received veterans' survivor benefits. Trackmaster produced chassis for all engine brands, the first swingarm models available for dirt track racing.
