AUGUSTINE, FL, MAR. 1 ound two of the Florida Flat Track Racing Series wa~ pretty much a Moroney's Harley-Davidson Racing Team benefit, as teammates Mike Hacker and Dave Camtin battled tooth and nail all night and exchanged wins in the 750 and 600cc Expert mains. Hacker played catchup all evening, and once he did catch Camlin in the 750cc main, he pulled away to a convincing win. Camlin then had to hold off young Paul Lynch to keep second. "Mike just had us covered on the 750," Camlin said. "I just tried to get out front and hold him off. It didn't work." "I've got to work on my starts," Hacker said, "but I've got aU the confidence in the world in my" Skip Eakenbuilt equipment. ow aU I have to do is my job." In the 883 main, Bartel's Harley rider Johnny Murphree looked to be a runaway winner, but Donnie Krusinski was able to make a race of it late - but too late to come up wi th the victory. The 250 and 600cc Pro-Am mains were swept by Marine Transport's Bryan Bigelow. Elsewhere, Tony Meiring, Charlie Italia, Cory Roth, Roger Lee Hayden, Nicky Hayden, Blake Young, Jason DiSalvo and Mike Alexander all came away with wins. In the 250cc Pro-Am main, Bigelow quickly dispatched Todd Kluever hnd pulled to a comfortable lead. Brandon Cartwright charged to second and held off the' late-race advance by Jeremy Thompson. The 600cc Pro-Am was another wireto-wire romp for Bigelow, but the race for second was savage. Jason Tyer, Tim Eades and John Winsett Jr. were locked tightly together. Eades and Winsett had both come through the field from the penalty line. On lap six, Tyer lost the R (Above) Winner Dave camlln (27) leads the pack early in the 600Cc main at the SL Augustine Half-Mile. (Right) Mike Hacker (67), here leading Camlin, scored the 750Cc main win. front end going into turn one and crashed out. Winsett used this opportunity to slip into second and the final posilions were set. The 883 main only had drama the last few laps, as Krusinski suddenly made a race out of it. "His bike's a fire-breather," winner Murphree said of Krusinski's late-race charge. '1 couldn't believe he was catching me, but I was just trying to stay smooth and out of trouble." Third place went to Gary Rogers who also had an opinion of Krusinski's speed. "I moved up, then down, then he flew by me like I was standing still," he said. Chance Darling rode a lonesome fourth, while Paul Morgan, Billy Martin and Shaun Russell disputed fifth. Camlin simplY'summed up his 600cc Expert win by saying, "One hell of a start. I was trying to stay consistent, then I heard him (Hacker) back there. I thought I was going to get caught behind a lapper, bu\ it aU worked out. I can't thank Pat Moroney enough. He has put us on some good equipment." "I got a terrible start," Hacker said. '1 was able to move up, but just as I caught Davey we got behind a lapper. I'm happy, though, to finish second to my teammate." Evidently, Hacker wasn't all that happy to finish second to his teammate, so he turned the tables in the 750cc main. Camlin, Lynch and Recil Hart led the main at the end of lap one, but Hacker was carving his way through the field after another slow start. Hacker took over the lead at the halfway point and pulled away. "Mike had us covered all night on the 7505," Camlin said. "I was just trying to hold him back, but I couldn't do it." Velicky (Yam); 7.
