(Left) Jimmy Gaddis
(1) was unstoppable
in Saturday's 125cc
main event. The
reigning series
champion led the
race from start to
finish and backed it
up with a third in the
subsequent2SOcc
main.
(Right) Chad
Pederson claimed
what may be his
final win of the
series with a victory
in Saturday's 250cc
main event.
Pederson plans to
eontest the AMA
125cc Eastern
Regional Supercross
Championship
Series.
ahead of Palmer, DeHoop and Jones.
Antunez crashed in a first-turn pileup.
He would remount again but fall two
more times before finishing ninth.
Gaddis continued to lead the race
with Goodman right on his tail and
Palmer lurking in third, but not yet
making a challenge.
Meanwhile, Stephenson was again
charging through the field to overcome
a bad start, and the ebraskan was able
to knife his way through the field before
settling into fourth behind Palmer, who
caught the leaders to make for a threeman parade around the track. Goodman
continued to pressure Gaddis, but the
champ was riding £lawlessly, and Goodman's fate was sealed when he bobbled
two turns trom the finish. Gaddis took
the win ahead of Goodman, Palmer,
Stephenson and a cruising Pederson.
"I just got a good start and was able
to pull enough of a lead to where 1
didn't have to really tighten up my
turns," Gaddis said. "My mechanic was
telling me where [ was the whole time.
I've just been feeling a lot better lately. I
was sick for a while, but 1 actually felt
good this week. I didn't get hurt, and 1
didn't fall. The Lord kept me safe. I've
just accepted that this has been a tough
year."
"I had a good ride," Goodman said.
"[ tried, bu.t Jimmy was riding really
well. [ think all three of us were going
through the whoops so fast that if one of
us had faUen, aU three of us would have
crashed."
Gaddis continued his resurgence by
getting off the line right behind Pederson in the 2S0cc main event, but this
time it was Pederson's turn to go with
the £low as he mirrored Antunez's perfect 250cc performance of Friday by running out front and unheaded for all 20
laps. Antunez railed his way past Gaddis on the outside of the right-hander at
the end of the rockers to grab second.
From there he pursued Pederson while
Stephenson once again mauled his way
to fourth only to fall to Buehl in the last
few laps and finish fifth.
But the race belonged to Pederson,
who went on to claim his 11th, and possibly last, win of the series. Antunez finished second and thus pulled back out
to 12 points ahead of Palmer as Pederson, now second in the series, makes a·
departure for the AMA 12Scc Eastern
Regional Su percross Series.
"[ just stayed smooth - that's about
all you can do," Pederson said. HI didn't
have the whoops dialed, but apparently
I wasn't going through them too bad. I
really wanted to win them both on my
last night. I'm going to ride the East
Coast 125cc supercrosses, but I'm going
to miss this. 1 really enjoy these races."(N
