IN THE WIND Ty Davis (Kaw) won the opening round of the AMA National Hare Scrambles Championship Series in Hollister, California, on February 9, with a oneminute, 43-second margin of victory over defending series champion Rodney Smith (Suz). Smith sustained a chest injury during the event, but held on for second over teammate Steve Hatch (Suz). Team Suzuki's newest recruit, .250cc World Enduro Champion Paul Edmonson, started last but worked his way up to third before running out of gas and settling for fourth at the finish. Brothers Brian and Patrick Garrahan (KTM) finished fifth and sixth, respectively. Michael Brandes (Yam) and Craig Decker (Kaw) were the big winners at the fourth round of the GFI Winter MX Series at LA County Raceway in Palmdale, California, on February 9. Brandes scored the 125cc Pro win over Decker, and Jeff Willoh (Yam), while Decker came back and topped the 250cc Pros over Rusty Holland (l
