Bowen
unleashed his
KTM fourstroke on the
rest of the Vet
Pro field,
earning both
moto victories
for the overall
win In the class.
On lap two, Carmichael moved by
Johnson and had Bowen in sight.
Carmichael slowly closed on Bowen,
and on lap four made his move for the
eventual win.
"Bowen was in a hurry and ] didn't
want to get over my head," Carmichael
said.
Bowen clung tenaciously to second
and held off Boyeson, Johnson and
Mike Treadwell at the end.
"Lappers were starting to get to me
at the end," Bowen said."] was glad to
hold on to second."
"Hey] got a good start and didn't
fall," Boyesen said. "Bowen was very
impressive today."
Bowen unloaded the KTM 620 that
he rode to a second-place finish in the
Four-Stoke National series and put it to
work in the Vet Pro class.

"] lined up as far away as ] could
from Bowen," eventual class winner
Earl May said. "If the sound didn't deafen you, the giant rooster tail will wipe
you out."
Bowen thundered out of the gate into
an instant start that materialized into a
big win.
"After] got used to the big fourstroke, ] think that it is easier to race
than a two-stroke," Bowen said. ''I'm
not that tired."
Second place was passed down from
Pat Barton to Matt Crown before moto's
end.
"We can't spot Bowen that kind of a
lead again," May said.
Bowen roosted the field off the gate
again and,. at the end of lap one, it was
Bowen, Crown, May and Mark Beamer.
Bowen then erred on lap two and he
found himself in third place.
"] followed Crown and May, and
they were really banging each other for
the lead," Bowen said. "But they were
gaining on me by using the elevator
jump."
On the next lap, Bowen wicked up
the throttle on the 620, and soared onto
the plateau at the .end of the "elevator."
Bowen caught May with two laps to go
and picked off Crown on the final lap
for an impressive victory. May's third
overall was plenty to add the Vet Pro
championship to his Over 30 A championship.
Saturday's Amateur program was a
