Demuth would clear the triple while Yezek doubled, then had to jump the last jump before the turn. Demuth edged Yezek for fourth, and Chester was fifth. "You have to get a good start to do well here because the track is so tight," Carsten said. 'Tve been getting good starts all weekend but someone always got a better one. Tonight it was my turn to win." Hedden edged ahead of Carsten. Neese got around the leaders in the grandstand whoops. Hedden had a problem in the ASK whoops stalling Sellards' drive, opening the door for Yezek, who dived under Sellards to take over fourth before the white flag. Neese and Carsten were alone up front and Hedden held off Yezek for the last lap to secure third. Sellards finished in fifth. Neese was pumped after his second win, especially after having to win his last chance qualifier to make the main. "I really don't mind having to come through the last chance," he said. "1 need all the track time 1 can get to get used to the tight racing in these arenas." SATURDAY 125cc By David L. Patton Jr. COLUMBUS, OR, DEC. 6-8 eam Green's Brock Sellards and Jim's Cycle Sales-backed Jim Neese each claimed two Pro-class main-event victories at rounds four, five and six of the Action Sports Arenacross Series, sponsored by ASK Powersports. Neese started off with a sweep of Friday's 125ee and 250cc Pro finals. Bromley Suzuki-backed Barry Carsten finished second in both classes. After Sellards took Saturday's 12Scc main, Carsten put in a winning ride in the 250cc main. Davey Yezek picked up the win in Sunday's 125cc main ahead of Sellards, but Brock came back strong in the 250cc final to pick up his second win of the weekend. Team Green's Jeff Gibson was unbeatable in 125cc B and Schoolboy action, winning all six main events ahead of Ben Riddle, who carded five second-place finishes and a third. T FRIDAY 125cc Neese took the holeshot ahead of Carsten. Jimmy Wilson ran in third and Yezek was mired back in the pack. Yezek's teamm.ate Shaun Perolio was in fourth, leading a pack of Suzuki riders including'Pocorobba, Jim Chester and Eastside Suzuki's Tommy Collier. Team Green riders Sellards and Charlie Dunaway were trying to work their way into the top five, but passing was difficuJ t on the tight track. Perotio got his F&S Racing Suzuki past Wilson, while Neese and Carsten opened open up a big gap. Sellards passed Pocorobba in the big sweeper after the finish-line jumps. He and Pocorobba ran down Wilson, who was falling off the pace. Yezek's chance at a top-five finish ended with a broken chain before the halfway point. Neese took the win ahead of Carsten, Perolio, Sellards and Pocorobba. FRIDAY 250cc Carsten and F&S Racing-ba.cked Jeff Hedden blasted to the front ahead of Neese and Sellards. Teammates Yezek and Perolio were in a battle with Josh Demuth and Mike Kalin. Pocorobba was Sellards came through the first turn at the front of the field ahead of Hedden, Yezek, Carsten and Chester, and ran away from the field. Hedden fell on the third lap in the turn before the finish-line jumps,. slowing Yezek and Carsten and adding to Sellards' advantage. Yezek and Carsten battled behind Sellards, while Chester and Kalin were locked in a race for fourth. Yezek pulled away from Carsten and caught Sellards with one lap to go. Yezek tried every line he could find but Sellards kept it together for the win. Carsten took a solid third ahead of Chester and Kalin. "When 1 got the holeshot 1 just tried to ride smooth," Sellards said. "1 knew Davey was coming. On the next to last lap Davey stuck a wheel inside me in the turn before the fi nish line, so on the last lap 1 rode inside so he couldn't pass me there." SATURDAY 250cc Carsten was up front at the start and stormed away from the field. Neese's bad luck conlinued as he got taken out in the first turn. Perollo chased Carsten, Mike Jones, Giff Palmer and Jeromy Buehl drove all night to make round six of the series. Jones also came to compete in the National Jumping Contest and thrilled the crowd with his no-hands landing, a jump he debuted in Columbus last year. Yezek pulled out all the stops to get away from the field. Sellards held off Palmer and Hedden. Carsten, Dunaway, Chester and Perollo were trying to catch the front-runners. Chester fell in the turn after the finish-line jumps, and Jones and Bowen were at the rear after first-turn problems. Yezek, Sellards and Palmer were flying out front and Dunaway had a hold on fourth. Carsten, Demuth and Perollo were racing wheel to wheel but Carsten rode well to hold off the two young guys. Near the end of the moto, a lapped rider went out wide to give Yezek room. Unfortunately, Yezek had gone to the outside and nearly hit the wall. Sellards took advantage to challenge for the lead but Yezek held on for the win. Sellards, Palmer, Dunaway and Carsten rounded out the top five. SUNDAY 250cc F&S riders Hedden and PeroHo shared the lead at the start. Sellards held third early, but Jones was making up for a midpack start and moved into fourth 'on the first lap ahead of Carsten, Yezek and Bowen. Sellards passed Perotio in the ASK whoops to close on Hedden. Bowen outran Carsten through the grandstand whoops to take fourth, and Sellards tapped Hedden going into the whoops to take over the lead. Perolio jumped the finish-line triple to pass Hedden, but Hedden passed Perotio in the sweeper to retake second. Hedden began to make small mistakes and Perolio was able to take over second through the ASK whoops. As Sellards took his second win of the weekend, Perollo took second. Hedden fell on the last lap and dropped back to 10th, continuing his bad-luck streak. Jones held off Bowen for third and Carsten slammed the door on Yezek in the last turn to take fifth.
