PERRIS, CA, JAN, 12
t looked more like the notorious
Blackwater 100 off-road race than a
motocross race. The opening round
of the GFI Winter MX Series South
kicked off at Perris Raceway under dark
and cloudy skies, but the dreary weather
did little to dampen the enthusiasm and
spirit of the hard-core and bleary-eyed
MX fans who turned out - many of
whom attende'd the previous night's
AMA Supercross Series round at the Los
Angeles Coliseum.
Despite the extremely wet, muddy
and just plain miserable conditions, a
large number of riders turned out for the
GFI series opener, too, and the one. rider
who showed that he knows how to ride
the mud was former 125cc MX World
Champion Bobby Moore. Moore
emerged victorious in the 125cc Pro
class, defeating such riders as Pro Cir-
