"It took me a long time to work up to fourth, and time ran out." "I had Carter beat and on the last lap 1 dropped my bike and exhausted myself picking it up as he passed me," Curry said. (Right) Keith Bowen continued his training for the European GP season at Dade City. The KTM rider grabbed the firstmoto win in the 2S0cc class on Sunday and was second overall. VET PRO/AMATEUR Pat Barton led Earl May, Mark Beamer, Billy Wood and Lee Mcilvaine in the opening Vet Pro moto. Barton led May for a while before being outbraked and falling to second. "He roosted me real bad," Barton said. "I need to be more aggressive and need more fuel." "It's so rough out there," Mays replied. "Barton is a crazy man. He is racing three classes today." The Team Green-supported May led Barton all the way in the final moto for the overall win. "I knew Barton was running on empty and tried to pull away from him," May said. "fie stuck with me for two laps and then dropped back to save some energy for the final 250 Pro moto." At the checkered flag, it was May, Barton, Beamer, Lee McIlvaine and Bobby Watson. During Saturday's amateur program Anthony Pocorobba ruled the first 125cc A moto ahead of Currie and Barton, but Pocorobba's final-moto knee injury took him out of the race and Currie, Carsten and Barton topped the final moto with Currie taking the overall win. Jeff Jansen led Pocorobba for two 250cc A laps urilil Pocorobba took control on lap three and took the win, bu t Currie again took advantage of Pocorobba's absence and secured a final-moto victory to collect the class win. American Suzuki-backed Gene Stull maintained the 85cc (12-13) class points lead via an overall win after splitting moto wins with Paul Perebijos. "This feels better than Ocala," Stull said. '1 got jumped on there last week." Jesse Ballard shared 125cc B moto wins with Matt Walker to claim an overall win which derailed Emesto Fonseca's perfect class record. "Ballard was riding well and 1 couldn't get good starts," Fonseca said. The 125cc (12-15) class was a thriller as Brandon Jesseman defeated Ballard, Fonseca and Walker in moto one. In moto two Walker headed Fonseca and Jesseman. "I started catching Walker," Fonseca said. "He made a few mistakes and at the end of the race I got inside him for the win and the overall."
