Mini sensation Justin Buckelew
romped to victory in the 80cc Expert
class. Buckelew was in a class all his
own, so to speak, as he scored a perfect,
wire-to-wire victory. The next-closest
rider to Buckelew was Sean Hamblin,
who ended up second, ahead of R.J.
Thompson, Jon Rogers and Ross Garcia.
Buckelew, however, could not match
that performance in the Supermini class,
where Jonathan Shimp showed that he
was the master. Shimp passed Buckelew
on the first lap and led Buckelew around
the wet Perris track until Buckelew's ride
came to an end when Buckelew's Yamaha drowned in a deep water hole. Buckelew never could get his motorcycle running again, thus handing Shimp an easy
win. Second went to Hamblin, followed
by Justin Mace and Jesse Casillas.
