Bostrom will not be defending his
championship nor will he be aboard
his familar Bartels Harley-Davidsons
in the upcoming season. Bostrom has
reportedly been let out of his Bartels'
contract and will campaIgn the 1997
AMA SuperTwins, NASB TwinSports
and NASB Buell road race series
aboard machines backed by Miller
Electrical Construction.
Dirt tracker Marco Morello has completely recovered from the badly broken leg he suffered in his horrendous
883 crash at the U.S. Motorcycle
National~ in KnoxviLle, Iowa, September 21, and has announced a new deal
for 1997. Morello plans to make his
debut in the 750cc class in '97 aboard
a Southern Tier H-D/Torco Racing
Oils XR750.
Another new dirt track frame manufacturer appears set to throw its hat
into the ring soon. Canadian rider
Steve Beattie has been working closely with sprint car chassis builders
Avenger Chassis of El Paso, Texas, to
develop a new motorcycle frame,
which utilizes a single shock
absorber 1torsion bar suspension system and linkage-guided swingarm.
Several prototypes are currently
under construction with on-track testing scheduled for late January.
