Get Real II In response to Rob Green's letter (Issue #46, ovember 20), I feel that the article Dave Coombs wrote was right on the money. This sport is in the process of a major transformation and though I agree that we need to instill some aspects of ASCAR racing, I also welcome the "free riding" revolution. Motocross needs more than just the weekend warrior and the die-hard motohead. "Free riding" sort of fits right in between the two. Having raced for 15 years myself, four as a pro, I know how easy it is to get away from the real reason we all began riding. Going out and "free riding" or "play riding" brings us back to the reality that it just feels good to go riding without all the stress of a typical race day. It's I ike when you used to pu II out that old XR80 and ride it until the tank was dry. Yes, Rob, riding and racing are two different things. But they're both great so why put either one ahead of the other. Having blinders on can do nothing but harm our sport at a time when we can benefit from as much publicity as possible. By the way, if you call riders like Mike Metzger (who has placed in the top 20 in several outdoor Nationals) slow, you obviously have no clue how difficult it is to place in the top 20 of a National motocross. Dale Spangler Willoughby Hills, OH The newest This is why I subscribed to Cycle News in the first place - so I could get a first look at the new bikes. I liked last week's article on the new Kawasaki dirt bikes. Why not tell us how to get to this great riding place in Idaho? Larry King Castle. Rock, CO Associate editor Kit Palmer is keeping the Idaho riding spot a secret and won't even tell/lis editor... Editor. Grandstanding In response to Hal Finkle's letter (Issue #46, November 20), I agree that it sucks that they don't open at least one section of grandstands at Daytona lnfernational Speedway for the Biketoberfest races. You can't see anything from the infield. After going for a couple of years now (770) 934-7850.
