thrill of being part of the Elsinore resurrection.
"I thought it was great - as good as it
was when 1 rode it in '68, '69 and '70. I'm
not quite as gutsy as I was then, so 1
didn't leave it on as long in the turns,
and I don't know if I could've gone a
whole 100 miles, but I had a good time,"

Well, okay, maybe next year."
Bailey's shot at 1996 stardom came in
the Legends race Saturday afternoon.
The entry list read like a Who's Who

do it now. Everybody said it was a zoo
then, and it certainly is now, but I'd do it
again in a heartbeat."
The Legends hit the trail at 2 p.m. The

Open-class lineup thundered after them
just three minutes later.
"They should've let the Legends go in
a race of their own:' Ty Davis said. "We
couldn't really race because there was
just too mucn traffic - 150 riders is too
many on a four-mile course. It was so
scary, especially because some of them
thought they were fast and they tried to
race with you."
By the halfway point, the spectators
were thoroughly confused. The numbering system for the Legends and the
