According to Jim Lewis of Lewis Communications, Inc., Lewis CommuiUcations will no longer be representing Motorcycle Product News Magazine for advertising sales. "We received a Federal Express letter on October 30 from Peter Brown, the new owner of MPN, terminating our relationship effective the day before the letter arrived, October 29. It caught us by complete surprise, and was very disappointing to us, having invested 14 months of hard work to assist a compa-. ny with no knoWledge of the motorcycle market." Effective immediately, all advertising and editorial-related business should be addressed to AB Publishing in Madison, Wisconsin, at 608/2490186, according to Lewis. Third in the 1995 500cc World Championship, Darryl King finished fifth in 1996 on a Honda CR500 after a nagging thumb injury slowed his early-season charge. It is understood that King has already tested for the Italian factory and is expected to race the company's new four-stroke in 1997. The dates for the New Haven and Niagara Falls rounds of the AMA PJ-1 National Arenacross Series have been swapped. New Haven will run on January 17-19 with Niagara Falls scheduled for January 24-26. Mike Hale back to the Smokin' Joe's Honda team for 19977 It's possible, says team owner Martin Adams. "It used to be that I did the hiring, but nowadays that's done by American Honda·," Adams said on Monday, November 4. "I have a say in the hiring of riders, but it's not just me. We've talked to Mike, but so far nothing has been done. Of course, I'd vote to have Mike Hale but it's a case of can we work this thing out financially. There's a possibility." Would the hiring of Hale be at the expense of Steve Crevier, who has another season left on his two-year contract with Honda. "We'd certainly observe that contract," Adams added. "Maybe there would be three bikes, a satellite team... but we're getting ahead of ourselves here because this is only in discussion at this point. The first step is could we meet the financial responsibility that hiring Hale would entail - more bikes, equipment, technical crew, etc?" Hale finished second in the 1995 AMA Superbike National Championship riding a Smokin' Joe's Honda, but moved to Promotor Ducati for what was a disappointing 1996 season in the World Superbike Championship.
