Tom Horton was the man to watch as the former Ascot Park regular bagged three class wins during the night, including the Modern Vintage 250cc main event. Horton came off the line from the third row as the field rolled into the first turn, but he was able to quickly move forward and take the lead before running away from the field for the win. "Gary Davis was ahead of me," Horton said, "I was waiting for everyone to make mistakes, but no one did, so I started making some moves of my own. I just went to the outside. There was a good cushion. This is the best race track I've ever been on in AHRMA." Brad Holt and Butch Cochran also got by Davis to finish second and third, respectively. Davis was fourth Horton again had to come from behind in the 600cc Modern Vintage event as he slid in behind Butch Cochran on the opening lap before a bobble by Cochran allowed Horton to slide underneath him and again set sail for the checkered flag. "Butch made a little mistake off turn two, and I just put a wheel under Itim," Horton said. "From there I just concentrated on being smooth after that. I was using this race as a tuneup for the mile race on Monday. This was an excellent race track. They need to be commended for doing such a good job." Horton also went on to claim the victory ahead of Rick Reed and Davis again in the 750cc Modern Vintage main event, but his quest for four wins in four starts was derailed in the 250cc Classic Vintage feature. Horton came from fourth place and was attempting to make a pass for the lead when he made contact wi th another rider, causing a crash. Horton was disqualifed for the incident. "That's the first time I've ever been DQ'd in my life," Horton said. Cary Buck went on to win the race aboard a Harley-Davidson Sprint.
