"On the last lap 1 fell in one of the rutted mudholes about a mile off and 1 thought for sure 1 was going to look back and see Steve coming by, but he wasn't there," Plessinger recounted. "1 got going again, but a mile after that this lapper just wouldn't let me by. He held me up for at least a mile. 1 was yelling and screaming - 1 don't know what the guy's problem was." Plessinger made the pass in time to secure the win with 13 seconds to spare on Hatch, while a frustrated Andrews came through the barrels another 30 seconds back.
