Brown bags Malvern MX By Steve Middlesworth MALVERN, OH, SEPT. 28 Rex Brown capture1::l overall 250cc C honors in a Saturday night mudfest at Malvern Motocross Park. David Smith was quickest off the gate in moto one as Brown assumed the second spot on his rear fender. Together they separated themselves from the rest of the pack being led by Harold Eddy with John Oark in close pursuit. Smith managed to hold on till the end with Brown taking the runner-up spot and Oark getting by Eddy for third. Rex Brown earned highest honors in the 250Cc C class at Ohio's Malvern Motocross Park. The star! of moto two once again belonged to Smith with Brown again sticking right to the leader. Shortly into lap one, Smith took a supposedly faster outside line, giving Brown the inside and the advantage he was hoping for. Brown spread it out over Smith. who crashed late in the race, aJlowing Clark and Brian Aldridge to move up in the order and finish behind Brown. B. Christ ripped the holeshot in his first 125cc C moto, with Ryan Pyers and Matt Macan staying right with him across the tunnel jump out of tum two. Pyers stripped Quist of the lead hortly after the completion of lap one and hung on for the duration. Macan fought off the charges of Mack Schooling on a Suzuki and rolled across the line in third. Again in moto two it was Christ clearing the pack in turn one and heading up the tunnel jump with the lead as Schooling, Pyers, and Shawn Moomau jockeyed for the number-two spot. As they began to stretch it out it was clear that Christ was setting the pace. [t was a stroll on the track for Christ as he clinched the win and secured the overall as Schooling and firstmoto winner Pyers collected second and third, respectively. . Paul Swartz took the pack around tum one of the second 125cc C class with Ja on Dever and Brown in his muddy roost. Brown got by • Dever as did Mike Bowman. Swartz ran out ahead and left the others behind to settle their differences. Swartz easily took the checkered flag with Brown and Bowman taking second and third. fN Results JR P/W; I. K.
