ROAD RACE Rain was again a factor at the start of Saturday's, Historic Cup Series racing. After being quite heavy through practice, the rain let up for the first two races, then began a steady drying trend before the day ended on a completely dry track. Indian Racing Products' Wilson rode his hand-shift Indian to a pair of wins in Pre-1940 Grand Prix and Oass C, heading an identical podium each time of BMW pilots Ralph Auer and Erich Bley. Auer was the Premier 500 winner, also on a BMW, The Bultaco marque was well-represented with wins in Formula 250 (Tupper Robinson) and 200cc Grand Prix (Chris Lacruze), where Byron Blend rode a Honda to second; Blend came back to win 250cc Grand Prix. Turning in a pair of impressive rides was GP Cycles' Paul Lima (Norton), who stormed to the Formula 750 and Formula Vintage titles. Malcolme Tunstall successfully crossed over from vintage to modern racing on his Duca ti, earning the top spot in 350cc Grand Prix and Sound of Singles Formula 3, Sven Bley (NWS) was the only double winner in the SoS / Battle of Twins/BEARS portion of AHRMA road racing, as he took number-one honors in SoS Formula lover Craig Wright (Ducati), and in BEARS ahead of Bill St. John (Ducati).
