Possibly Dewit's most satisfying
move was on fifth-placed Morris.
"He just ran straight into me," the
Brit said with a grin after the race. "1
guess he felt a bit angry about some"
thing."

ended his _son with a nlnth-plece
finish overall and third In the World
Championship point standings,
(Below) Memlcq Bervoets did his
best to stop Everts from clelmlng
the crown, but he ceme up a little
short - et least on \he rece track.
Bervoets passed both riders as they
tangled, and a lap later he had hauled
back Leon Giesbers, putting him fourth
at half distance. He needed just eight
minutes to pull back the 13-second gap
to Demaria before setting his sights on
Everts.
"[ don't know if 1 could have held
him off anyway, but I wasn't going to
take the risk of finding out," Everts said.
"We could have collided or he could
have tried something silly. 1 just gave
him plenty of room."
Bervoets couldn't quite catch Bolley
in the remaining 10 minutes, but it was
of no importance anymore and the
Suzuki ace came home a disconsolate
second. He didn't need ·to look around
to see Everts arrive 24 seconds later, The
roar from the crowd told him. Bervoets
may still end up as champion, but he
trudged away heartbroken - he had
wanted to win it on the track,
Beirer rode a scintillating race to
fifth, passing Dewit three laps from the
end; and Bartolini's brave attempt to
come back from his misfortunes ended
with another crash,
