Green ran into problems on the third lap going down in the starting line comer, and surrendered the lead to Cannon. Cannon, however, did not have time to enjoy his lead as Sassano made his charge to the front of the pack by lap three, getting past Cannon in the rockers by using aggressive riding that allowed him to triple into the rockers while Cannon was doubling. Sassano finished the first moto in the lead, Cannon second, and Watson got by Green late in the moto for third after Green missed a shift in the rockers. Jim Garber came in fifth. Garber came out quickest in the second 125cc B mote, with Green in second and Watson in third. Sassan.o was in seventh through the start comer. Green tlied to get Garber through the rockers on the opening lap, but Garber kept his Kawasaki in the lead with Green racing him to the next corn,er. Green took the tight inside line through the comer while Garber took the wide line. Green overtook Garber for the lead over the finish-line jump, completing tl,e first lap. Sassano overtook Watson for third over the infield pipe jump for third on the second lap, and set out after the leaders. Sassano ran down Garber on the next lap, overpowering him on the long backstretch entering the superbowl to steal the second position. Green took the white flag and Sassano knew that time was running out. Sassano took the lead from Green by getting a better drive out of the comer preceding the long straightaway, and went on the take the overall win. "I like Trojan," Sassano said later. "ft has a nice layout. You can be a C rider and do the double jumps safely. I have to work on my starts, because 1 had to play catch-up all night long. I watched for the guys in front of me to make mistakes and capitalized on their mistakes. This feels pretty good, winning." , The Auto (4-6) saw some close racing as Kiefer Banter came out with the overall win; Banter had the first moto won until the last lap, when Brandon Rose swept by to steal it away. ,Dian Klinger challenged Rose for the lead but went down on the final lap, quick.1y remounting to take fourth overall.
