I when Plessinger passed me, I was kind of making mistakes, so I was happy to see him go around me, really. I thought I could try to pass him on the motocross track (at the finish) if I had to. When he got stuck about two miles from the finish, it was his tum to have bad luck and not mine." Plessinger recounted the incident. "I was probably about five bike lengths ahead of him and got a bad line at the bottom of this hill," Plessinger said. "I got probably three-quarters of the way to the top and the back end hit a tree root and kicked me sideways and I lo.st my momentum." After getting by, Andrews eventually would finish with a nine-second lead. Blackwell followed just 22 seconds behind Plessinger for his best finish to date this season. After the race, Blackwell looked as strong and confident off of the track as he appeared while circulating it. Hatch arrived at the finish eight minutes down on Blackwell, but was pleased with his performance in spite of his foot injury. With Summers not finishing, fourth was enough to keep Hatch in the points lead, and he was already looking forward to the next round at Hardrack, West Virginia. Hawkins, Jim Jarrett, Smith, Gene O'Nail, Frank Keegan and Brian Hess rounded out the top 10 overall, all finishing within 15 minutes of the leader. Desert racers Campbell and Pearson failed to finish in the top 10 in class and found little about the terrain to relate to.~ BurrOaks _ 1lrI_ 11lrI~1 _:Dono.
