lapped riders, and kept their drive for the win through the pack. Landry held on for his life as he drove across the fmish line with a just lire width to spare over Aldana. Mark Thomas placed third. Fran Brown was first off the line in the Classic 500/750cc feature aboard his Matchless. George Wills snatched the lead away on the back straight but Brown was not to be outdone and got it back on the very next lap. Meanwhile, George Richbneyer joined the fun by diving into second place, and then right under Brown in the next turn for the lead. As Rightrneyer enjoyed the air, former Grand National champion George Roeder cut through the masses behind him. On the next lap, however, Ro¢er held up his hand and moved off the field, his 3O-year-<>ld Ken Maely shoe broken in half. The top three were Richtrneyer, Brown and Wills. Richtmeyer rode four bikes in separale classes, and won two of them after mechanical , problems sidelined him from the otherS. Duane Veeder led the pack in the 600cc Pre>class main, pursued hotly by Roger Durkee. Durkee was aiming for Veeder's spot, but Veeder had a smooth, secure line and could not be shaken. Veeder ~Id his line, despite Durkee pressing him both high and low, until the last lap. As the white flag waved them by, Durkee scraped by Veeder on the front straight. Veeder raged after Durkee in the half lap that remained, but came up short by a slim margin at the checker. Resutts t OlNO VINT, 1. lim Smith (Indl. eeo.g. Wills (H-o~ ~ B1aIbo (Moi).
