Let me get this straight, Pomona isn't closing down, is it? They're not kicking us out, are they? Then what gives? The Agajanian Boys had no problem letting the Grand National Gang come to their place three times a year. How can they say "So. Cal. race fans deserve th.e very best" and "we're canceling" in the same sentence? The superbike weekend is nice and all, but they don't need to cancel dirt track. We do deserve the best, and that's why the Rolling Thunder comes to Southern California twice a year. We support them. We had a hard time believing it when San Jose really had "The Last Mile" and when Ascot closed down its hallowed halls, we all took home some dirt in our pockets. The list of tracks that have closed in Southern California is too long to list. How can they call themselves race promoters and then go out and cancel a race? The next thing you know they'll move the road race to Penske's new place out in San Bernardino and cancel the Spring Pomona half- mile as well. We saw a lot of . our racing friends and people involved in the sport. We are so glad we went and want to thank all the racing families and sponsors of such a great event. And a very special thanks to the people and sponsors involved in the J.D. Collins Memorial ride. This is such a great tribute to J.D. Collins and a great way to help a high achiever and a low receiver. \C g:; Subscription rates: Rates for the United States and its posses-sions for one year, (SO issues), $50.00; two years (100 issues); $95.00; six months.
