Leary who wanted to know what had become of me. I felt a great deal of pride when I read the letter in your paper and realized that people stilI remember me, and that they think e,!ough about me to take the time to write and ask what I was doing. It made me feel cared for in much the same way that someone feels about their family, that kind of love you give and get in return. It was a good feeling and I want to thank Mr. Leary for making me feel it again. Those of us who have been lucky enough to get tha t feeling from large groups of people we call fans know what I mean. That is the hardest' part of leaving the career behind when it ends. I don't think you ever forget the feeling of having so many people care about you, and it is an honor to have been loved by so many people. So thanks, and please know that I think from time to time about everyone I got to know, even if only through a brief handshake, during my career. I would also like to give heartfelt thanks to Dave Stevenson for the wonderful management through the good a,ndbad times of my career. He has been a tremendous support and a great friend. In short, since my retirement my wife Tara and I have been fortunate to have had tw.O healthy boys, Clint and Cole, and we are e.njoying all of our time with them. At the recent Millville National Motocross, there were two bikes on display in memory of Donny Schmit. On behalf of Donny's family and myself, 1'd like to thank Mitch Payton and Jon at Pro Circuit who sent works pipes and silencers for the bikes. I would also like to thank John and Greta Martin for setting aside a display area for the bikes, and Acerbis for the banner tape. Randy Nagel Rochester, MN King Carl not so bad My family and I went to the World Superbike races at Laguna Seca in July. I have always heard such a bad rap about Carl Fogarty. As we were walking through the pits, we carne to Carl's tent and my husband asked him to sign our son's race wagon and to take a picture with me. Carl was more than happy to sign the wagon and gave me a big hug for the picture. • So what's with the bad rap on Carl? He was very friendly to my family. CA !QlO6. wi I would like to thank the idiot who is suing Bob Harvell because he broke his arm at his track, Rainbow II. oW that you have done this stupid act, we have one less place to ride. Bob worked very hard in finding a place for us to ride, and you ruined it for everybody. People like you, who don't take responsibility for his/her own actions, don't deserve to ride a motorcycle. Do yourself a favor and take up a sport where it's okay to cry like a baby, and place the blame on the other guy. The motorcycling community doesn't need idiots like you. Skip Godinez Torrance, CA With the competition decreasing due to injury, retirement and riders switching to road racing, it appears possible that Scott Parker could win 250 races, and 20 Grand ational Championships. Enough already. Come on Rich King. Kevin Howard Turlock, CA [ssue 133 August 21, 1996 Internet http://www.cyclenews.com POSTMASTER: Sud addms chang~ to Cycle Box 498, Long B.ach, CA 90801.0495. Thanks, idiot Go, Rich King No Pomona FAJ«310)427~S chances a year that we in Southern California get to see first-class professional dirt track racing anymore, let alone national-caliber events. As RWP stated themselves, "Southern California race fans demand and deserve the very best racing entertairunent package possible..." I thought that was what we had with the dirt track races, so what good is demanding the best racing?' How is six months of sole concentration and all the energy you want necessary, or how is it going to improve the staging of the "L.A. Supermarket Parking Lot Races?" My friends and I follow superb ike racing, and we have not met or talked to anyone who has enjoyed or who looks forward to the L.A. Superbike race. We think the growth of the L.A. Superbike Weekend is doubtful. When we want to see road racing, we got to real courses like Laguna Seca, Sears Point, Phoenix and now Las Vegas. Jim Madrid Lancaster, CA Printed in U.S,A. .
