round four. Steve Johnson and Jim
Lester, seventh and 11th in the race, are
currently tied for third with 78 points
each.
At the start, Wait and Munroe surged
to the front, hotly pursued by Frankenfield and Canadian Jeff Williams. By lap
three, Wait was beginning to open a gap
on Munroe, and the duo had a 6.2-secand lead over third place, now occupied
by Cowad as Frankenfield and Williams
began slipping to the rear.
The gap between Wait and Munroe
grew to nearly seven seconds by the
end, and Conrad was all alone in third,
well behind Munroe. Matthew Winnacker and his Ducati 916 (with a special chip to detune it to meet the class'
102-horsepower limit) moved up into
fourth. Williams slipped back to ninth
before moving back up to fifth in the last
two laps.
