story, but he's really fast when he's leading." Windham maintained about a fivesecond lead over Huffman throughout the race, but Huffman did dose the gap slightly the last couple of laps when Windham backed off a bit. Even with Huffman gaining, Windham felt comfortable enough to pull off one of his patent heel-clickers over the track's longest double jump on the last lap. One of the main reasons Huffman do ed on Windham was that he knew that Lamson was coming on strong. Lamson got of to a bad start when he tangled with a couple of riders in the first turn. "I actually had a good start, but a couple of guys on tl,e inside got together and went straight, driving me to the outside," Lamson explained. "After that I wanted to get through the first lap without crashing." Lamson completed the first lap in 12th, and spent the rest of the race picking off riders one by one. He eventually worked his way into third after passing Craig, who had been holding down that position the entire race, just after the halfway point. Lamson slowly dosed the gap on Huffman, who knew darn good and well that he was coming. "The laSt few laps I had to turn it up; there was no way I wanted him to pass me," said Huffman. ot long after Windham had taken the checkered flag, so did Huffman, closely followed by Lamson and Mike Brown, who ran fifth for much of the race before slipping by Craig after the halfway point. Sixth again went to Ferry, followed by Pederson and Reynard, who got off to a ninth-place start. Xtreme/CTi2/Kawasaki's Buddy Antunez ended up ninth after crashing in the first moto, while Dowd took 10th. L~ Kenworthy's MX Track Troy, Ohio Results: July 28, 1996 (Round 9 of 13) 125 MOTO 1: 1.
