'MOTOCROSS Mosier Valley Cycle Park Good nmes AlnateurNalion8l Bogard kept a smile on Alexander's face all weekend by compiling a total of five motorcycle class championships and 10 moto wins on the yellow machines. Johnny Marley and his Noleen Yamaha mini cycles cranked out the wins in the BOcc (12-13) class. Marley's closest rival was Chase Reed, who piloted a superfast Team Green Kawasaki. Reed did get a break when Marley went down while trying to do his best imitation of Superman through a difficult rocker section. Though Marley came back as fast as a speeding bullet he was not able to catch Reed, who simply ran away with the moto for the overall win in the Minibike Open (7-16) age division. Ryan Grantom, who hails from nearby Conroe, Texas, was without a doubt the top small-bore racer of th,e weekend, , stomping his way to an eight-moto sweep of the 50cc (7-8) and Super Pee Wee division and the 60cc (6-8) Stock and Modified classes, Only Adam Reson could keep sight of Grantom in most of the races, finishing off the weekend second in the 50cc division and fourth in the 60cc class. Grantom even caught the attention of race promoter Liz Surber. "It seemed like we gave out a big trophy to little Ryan every few minutes during our trophy presentation," she said. 0 By Tony Alessi 32 EULF.'iS, TX,]ULY6-7 he three amigos from Oklahoma stole the spotlight at this year's _ GNC-promoted Good Times AmateU! National held at the all-new and improved Mosier Valley Cycle Park. Jacob Martin was the king of the 12Scc Intermediate ranks while fellow Oklahoma state residents John Marley and Chase Reed did the deed in the Minicycle ranks. This year's Good Times event came at perhaps a bad time since a recent track change from the histori'c Lake Whitney Cycle Ranch to the new Mosier Valley Cycle Park may have left some racers a bit confused and feeling a bit out of place. But in the end most racers agreed that the new facility and GNC race program was run almost perfectly, with the only real negative being the almost unbearable lOO-plus-degree heat, which kept many a racer searching for the closest air-conditioned motorhome. Team Suzuki's Jacob Martin assignment was crystal clear this weekend, and he followed it like a road map. His job? Win, win and win some more! When all was said and done Martin racked up an impressive six out of six moto victories en route to a sweep of the l25cc Stock and Modified Intermediate divisions and the always-exciting Schoolboy event. ' Martin had company this weekend not from any of his competition but from his boss, Team Suzuki's Pat Alexander. Martin and his teammate Charley
