Racine races 10 the win at Rochester Dirt Track By Sllbrtflll Thomas Photo by Deb Martin RClCHFSTER, NIl, JUNE 14 Patric Racine took top honors in the 600cc ProAm class at the Rochester, Fairgrounds in the second of seven half-mile events in. the Northeast Professional Dirt Track Series. Jim Myrick initially led the pack in the 600cc Pro--Am feature, but Racine soon made his way past Myrick to take the lead. Aaron Creamer moved from fourth pla·ce into second place by lap six, and Racine held on for the win. Creamer sneaked by Myrick for second spbt. Steve Pouliot dominated the 883cc class early on., rolling into first position. after a brief encounter with Paul Normandin during the last few laps. Roger Durkee took a runaway Expert-class win for the fourth year in a row. HANOVER, PA, JUNE 22 With the coming of summer, jim Hollister used the warmer temperatures to get his "old body" heated up, taking his second straight Trail-Way Speedway short track double in the 600cc A and Over 30 classes. After easily winning the Over 30 class in front of Bob Sweeten and Todd Stith, Hollister got a good start in the 600cc A class, leading Roy Miller, Tom McGrane Jr., and Sweeten. While Hollister started to pull away, the other three battled hot and heavy for second until the fourth lap when McKee shot into second after starting on the penalty line. After getting free of the pack, McKee started to slice into Hollister's margin. McKee got closer to Hollister throughout the following laps and the two riders crossed the finish line side by side, Hollister winning by inches. McKee didn't try to anticipate the start of the 250cc A and held down the lead over Rich Mellinger, with Sweeten, Donnie Mullen and Rusty Eves following behind in a spirited battle for third. As McKee began to pull away, Sweeten took control of third, but a bobble off the second tum of the sixth lap letMullen pass by for third. Bruce Ingram moved up to chaUenge Eves for fifth, taking it by a few feet at the finish. Nick LipiTa was the first 85cc out of the second turn, followed by Chris Klinefelter, jason lsennock and jared Mees. Klinefelter put his bike in front at the end of the lap and started to pull away. By the third lap Mees has taken over third, and got by Lipira for second on the fifth lap. Ben Miller was the first 12Sce out of the second turn, followed by Raun Wood and jake johnson. Johnson took second at the end of the Second lap and put pressure on Miller for the lead. johnson took the lead with two laps remaining but was forced to battle side-by-side with Miller for the rest of the race, neither rider wanting to give an inch. As they entered the final tum they encountered a lapped rider. Johnson went high while Miller went low, and Miller took the win by inches. Ken Miller took the 250cc B lead away from Will Russell, Scott Armstrong, and Bruce Miller. Russell and Bruce Miller were quickly by Armstrong, with Russell moving up on Ken Miller. Russell took the lead at the halfway mark as they navigated through lapped traffic, and held on to the lead until he crossed the finish line despite Miller's repeated attempts to steal the win away.
