The action stayed intense for the next five laps as Hannah tried relentlessly to get a wheel inside Sherrow. Hannah's efforts paid off on the last lap when Sherrow bobbled slightly, allowing Hannah to slip by. Hannah went on the take the dass win, followed by Robert Hannah and Robert Kirk. In other main-event action, Brent Tatum rode to another Vet Novice class win over Roger Bowerman, and Jay Gosvenor extended his series lead by taking the Open Novice win over Tom Lee. Results SO: 1. JUNE 8-9 Mike Alessi recorded an unprecedented seven class championships during the third annual running of "Mini Stars," held at Starwest Motocross Park. Day one saw Alessi score overall champi- onships in the 50cc Stock and Modified Expert divisions, as well as the new Super Pee Wee division. Eric Carlaon (Hon~ moved to second. Reynolds rode to an easy win while Mark Jugel held off a late-race charge by Ernest Brown to finish second. Gentry faded to fifth. Reynolds was quickest off the line again in the second race, followed by Brown and Stroud. Jugel moved to third while Stroud slid back to fifth. Reynolds completed a perfect four moto sweep and Brown took second overall away from Jugel on a tie breaker. Jr. discovered that he had a broken throttle cable moments before the star! of the race and managed 10 get it replaced in two minutes, fast enough to pave the way for Miller's double moto sweep of the class over Jake Hulett and Chris Taft. Bryan Hachitt and John Baggett finished fourth and fifth, respectively. Alessi returned on day two to tear through the ranks of all three Pee Wee divisions, once again scoring the victory in the SOcc (7-8) Stock, Modified, and Super Pee Wee divisions. Alessi got a shot of good luck when race leader Dennis Johnson threw a chain on the final lap, handing the ",oto and overall victory to Alessi. JUNE 22 Dave Robel and Louie Reynolds rode their CR 125s to three wins at the Tuskegee Supercross in Tuskegree, Alabama, Robel taking first in the Over 30 class while Reynolds rode to victory in the 125cc C and Unlimited Amateur divisions. Robel holeshot the first Over 3O/Unlimited Amateur combined mota. He and Reynolds pulled away from the pack while Rueben Buice battled with Chris King for third until King bailed off hard over the triple jump. J1,eynolds followed Robel to the finish, while Duke Reese nipped Buice on the last lap for third. Reynolds kept Robel in sight throughout the second heat but could never challenge for the lead. JUNE 28 Despite a second-row starting position, Jeremy Hannah took the 125cc-class win in round seven of the 1996 Budweiser California Dirt Track Series held at the Madera Fairgrounds. In the combined 125cc/25Occ main event, 250cc Expert rider Jess Medley led every lap to take the 25Occ-class win.
