Although Roach and Crenshaw pulled away
later in the race, Gorda had no problem holding
third 250 overall, besting many of the Juniors in
the process. Taking second and third in the
Beginner class were Eric Doble and Adam
Hansel.
In the second moto, Gorda again started
well, but took a spill in the back section. Gorda
restarted quickly to keep the Beginner-dass
lead, which he held for the rest of the moto. At
the checkered flag, Gorda was the fifth 250cc
machine to cross the line, easily earning the
beginner win, with Doble and Hansel again second and third, both for the moto and overall.
in the 12Scc division, the Intermediate class
was owned by David Lodermeier, who holeshot,
then lead each lap to dominate both motos. In
the Junior ranks, hot Honda pilot Aaron Bums
ruled the class by also posting a two moto
sweep. The Beginner dass featured dose racing,
with Tim Crenshaw winning the first moto after
a battle with rat Harlow and Richard Santos.
Crenshaw gated poorly in moto two, and
had to work hard to get into the top five. Meanwhile, Raymond Geimer hit his stride after a
sixth in the first moto, and raced on to the moto
win over Justin Rowlett, Santos, Crenshaw and
Keith Brooks.

Hannahs handle Madera FT
By Mandee Staab-Murphy
MADERA, CA, JUNE 21
Larry Hannah took first place in the Vet Expert
class this past weekend at Madera Flat Tracks.
Hannah was the only one of 11 riders not to
jump the start and be sent to the back of course,
giving him an easy holeshot. Hannah did not
have to battle in this race as the bikes stayed in
pretty much the same order they started in.
In the 125/250cc Novice class, Robert Hannah
had the holeshot, but not far behind him was his
own brother Jeremy Hannah. They battled hard
through most of the race, until the last couple of
laps. Then Jeremy had a slight bobble and almost
wrecked as Robert pulled bike lengths ahead of
him and the competition to win the race.

LAKE GENEVA, WI, JUNE 22·23
Nick Wey showed that he will be the man to beat
at Loretta Lynn's, dominating the competition at
the North Central Youth Regional Qualifier.
In the first Schoolboy Stock moto, Jeremy
Brown led into the first corner with Wey hot on
his rear wheel. Jason McDonald Tounded the
comer in third as Michael Kann and Brandon
Bartz battled for fourth. Wey moved on Brown
on the outside to take first. Bartz, who had
already gotten around Kann, was on the move.
At the halfway point Bartz took tl,e inside line
from McDonald and set up a block pass going
into a sharp right-hander. Bartz set his sights on
Brown as Wey steadily put distance on all of
them. On the white-flag lap, Bartz tried the same
move on Brown as he had used on McDonald, to
no avail. Bartz saw another chance one straight
later and tried to go underneath. Both riders
went down, handing second to McDonald.
Brown and Bartz would remount to finish third
and fourth respectively as Kann rounded out the
top five.
As the riders waited for the start of the second moto, the temperature rose to about 90. The
track, which had started out muddy, now
turned dusty, slippery and hard. This time Wey
was followed by Bartz into the first corner.
McDonald ran third as Qrown and Kann rounded out the top five. At the flag it was Wey, Bartz,
McDonald, Brown and Kann.
After a thorough dowsing of the track
overnight, the third moto began with Brown
reaching the first corner ahead of Wey, McDonald, Kann, and Mike Mercer. Kann laid it down
going around a big sweeper, giving Bartz, who
had worked up from midpack, a shot at Mercer.
Bartz displaced Mercer and went after McDonald. Bartz set up a pass on McDonald but lost
the front wheel on a wet spot and both he and
McDonald went down. McDonald remounted
first to hang onto third. Wey would take the win
and the overall with Brown second, McDonald
third, Bartz fourth and Kann daiming the final
transfer spot to the national.

move on Sugundo on lap two and moved up to
challenge Ornelas for second.

blitz, Heess tet it all hang out and also passed
Vittone, while Ornelas ran away with the lead.
Ornelas took the moto and overall win, followed by Heess, Vittone, Sugundo and Norrish.
