Don Har t took th e w in but not be for e he dealt with traffic. Kevin Bricker followed in second whil e Rob Damron took the third spo t. Damron show ed the gu ys the way hom e in the Open A final , bking a \\;re-to-\\;re win and frust rating Don Hart , who took second. Th ese two had a l a-bike lead on the rest of the pac k and were just flyin g. Geramy Rackley took the third in this final. Steve Hall, who claims that ITs are his choice of racing events, showed that he's coming along with his Short Track efforts as well, and he con· tinued h is winning ways by taking the Vintage wi n, follow ed by Ralph Lee, Dist ri ct 36's Flat Track Stewaro;!. The Vintage C final had Marty Weisler taking the win and Mark Biscardi second. Rob Reed ' s first fla t track effort p ayed off with his win in the Knobb y Gass, which broke Gino Rinaldi's str ing of win s in this event. The 8Qcc A final win belonged to Tony Meiring on his tru sty Honda while Mickey Lane and his Suzuki ham mered Meiring's .rear whee l all eight laps. Meiring came out the victor and Lane got the awa rd for ridi ng the hard est, an d his second- place finish was a proud one. The SOcc B fina l belonged to Danny Casey of the K-C Racing team with Jar ed McWh irter a close seco n d, a n d Nicola s Moo r e in thir d. Casey's win was a swee t one as McWhirt er has been the dominating rider in this class. . Mike Gallaty and his Rotax took the win in the Open B final, while Richard Arnold was the first to see the checke red in th e Op en C fin al. Mar k cond and Jon Fountain took third. Bron k absolute ly awed the crowd wh en he we nt over the tricky, 300-foot hill in on ly 6.783 seconds to win the David Van Alstine Memorial Fastest Time of the Day trop hy. Wo od , in a com e-fr o mbeh ind victory, took h is sparkling CRSOO over the jumps and to the top of the hill in only 6.824 seconds . Ernie Beckwi th. also on a Honda. led the first ha lf of the com petiti on with a 7.169, but Woo d w as co okin g in th e seco n d half and couldn't be beat. Wood was a lso u n stoppab le in th e BOcc Open di vision for the da y' s 10 fastest riders. With only one shot to prove who's the fastest of the fast, Wood ha d another gre at ride of 7.019 to take the prestigi ous win . Several Min neso ta-ba sed hillclimbers came to Dyra cuse, bringin g with them some aw esome talent, but they could n't catch w isconsin' s fast 250cc-elass riders, Randy Meta las and Jeff Piont e k. In th e fir st ha lf. it wa s Pion tek, Corey Wood , and Metalas in the top spots, bu t Mejal as came back in round two with an amazing 7.734 for the glory. Pionte k took the nu mber-two spot and Dan ny Mears was third wit h a 7.790. On e Minnesota rid er absolut ely domina ted the 12Sec class. Ryan Peterson gave tw o stellar per formances of 8.904 and 8.949 for first place overall. Jeff Pion tek tried hard to catch him but settled for tw o secon d-place finishes for the day. Local rider and lon gtime h illclim be r Bill Timm captured the win in the 200cc""Class wh en he took his bike over the top in 8.915 seconds . Kurt McMilla n gra bbed the h olesh ot in the first 125cc Expert qual ifier. Carsten gated second w ith Sean Sku tnik third , followed by Tony Magaro, Ryan Bet", Rich Schm id t, Jeff Yagloski and Eric Richard s. Cars ten was ted little time in taking the point early in the second lap a nd led to the finis h. McMillan and Skutnik foug ht for second with McMilla n winni n g t he ba tt le. Sch mi d t took fou rth followed by Betz, Richards, Yagloski and Todd Borelli. Joel Dengler took his Suzu ki to the front of the pack in the second qualifier with Eric Reilly holding a tight second . Neil Woern er was thir d, followe d by Bo Ca nag iue r, Ter ry Ku hn , Scott Rockwell and Chri s Ritter. Dengler was on the gas and he ld a good lead ahead of Reilly and Woerner, who battl ed for second as Suzuki mounted David Kratz wo rked his way throu gh the pack after a bad start. Dengler held on for a wire-to-wi re win, wi th Kratz ta king seco n d a hea d o f Reill y , Wo e rn er, Canaguier, Kuhn and Bill Baker.
