victo ry in the BOcc (9-11) class during round one
o f the four-round Mini Mania series held a t the
all- new an d im p ro ved Ra inbow II m ot ocr oss
park.

from the get -go in the first moto after he pulled
the holeshot "I just concentra ted on riding fast
but smooth:' Beavers said.
. Beavers rode with a smart agenda by ope n109 a lead , then rid ing just fast eno ugh to pace
the riders behi nd him. Those riders beh ind him,
however, had a battl e of their own . Josh Grant
was holdi ng off a hard-ch arging Anthony Broscella for second to the end of th e race. "He go t
out of shape a few tim es," Bru scel1a sai d . "But
h is b ik e is fa st a n d h e p u lled m e in th e
straights ." The top three orde r at the finish was
Beavers, G rant and Bruscell a.

John McConneli went 1-1 to secure the overall in
the Seni or 40+ class in the sixth rou nd of District
5's Tucker Rocky Spring Seri es at Brown svilleLuzern e O ty Par k.
. McConn ell was first ou t of the gate in moto
one with Henry Hauen stein on his rear fender
and pro mote r Dave Coombs, Skip Stewart an d
Jack Mills ro unding out the .top five. Halfway
th rough th e first lap St ewart wa s push in g
Coombs . After riding side by side th rough a few
co rners , Stewart p assed Coombs th ro ugh th e
w oods. As Coombs began to fad e, Mills took
over fourth place, passing Coombs on one of the
many u phills. By th e end of la p one the top five
positions w ere se t wit h McC onnell alread y
pulling a lead on the rest of the pack .

Women's rider Jessica McConnell began a battle
with Coombs . Jessica McConnell was able to get
pas t Coombs o n a se t of uphill do ubles but
Coom bs go t right b a ck a round. McC onnell
scored the win, followed. by Hau en stein, Stew art. Mills an d Coombs.

three. Mills com pleted a pass for second in th e

riders pu lled away . Coming up to the finish of
lap two McConnell was right on Coombs' back
tire wh en he hit the biggest puddle on the track
and soaked. her. It was wa r from then on. Coming ar ound on lap fou r Jessica McConn ell and
Coom bs were side by side through a wid e righthand er and up th e hill. McConn ell then found a
good lin e and qu ickly sneaked to the inside to
tak e ov er the positi on. By the end of lap four
Ha u enstein h ad moved from the back of th e
pack up to fo u rt h, pass in g McCo n ne ll a n d
Coombs in th e wood s section. Meanwhile, Stew art found his way to Mills' rear tire and the pa ir
beg an a side-by -side battl e th at lasted until th ey
e n te re d a d ownhill se ctio n. Ste wart to ok a n
in side line th rough a left-hand turn a nd p u t
him self into second place behind McConnell.
