ou Kevin Sax ton and Predmore filled the top six. Surprising local Yamaha rider Ron Fish led th e Open A final but had Maico-mounted Murphy, as well as Grant Blazek and Pomeroy, gunning from behind. Fish first fell prey to Murphy, then saw Bla z e k, Grant an d Po me roy nab him in one fell swoop and was thus relega ted to a still creditable fifth place. Up fron t, Murphy had his hands full with Blaz e, who d id all he could to contain G ran t and Pomeroy. In fact, neither : Grant nor Po meroy co uld get a ro un d Blaze k, who hails from Laf'ine, Or egon . Murphy picked up his first win of the day w ith th e d eft co ntain ment o f his cha llengers. Nyblod sho t to the head of the field in the 30+ fina l, but had Hart overtake him in a d a rin g p ass. Once out front, Hart was there for keeps. Afte r being passed Ny blod ra n in second place for the ba lance of the race, his best performance of th ree classes. Casey had his han ds full with 1994 AMA 600cc National Dirt Track Champion Fay in a battle for thi rd -place honors. Ultimately the battle went Casey's wa y as he finished in front of Fay and Fish. Grant breathed a sigh of relief after grabbing a 40+ win since he didn't have to face his classic battle with Montana's Tom Rapp, Grant's former Bultaco teammate, who was unable to compete this yea r. Grant still had to face some tough competition, however, as another Bultaco rider, Ron Melton, and Rickman rid er Charlie Brown both did their best to keep him honest. Filling out the top five were Bill Row an d Terry Hyde. That sigh of relief, however, came before Grant faced h is toughest challen ge of the day, the Past Masters class. Murphy made things tough for Grant and the two traded the lead throug hout . the race wit h both riders giving it everything they had . Grant first lost the lead to M urphy, then bobbled and lost any cha nce for a repeat win. " It was a .great race," Gra nt sai d. " If I go t second and had to work that ha rd for it, it was worth it and it felt good." Nevada's Jim Keet on scored a p air of wins, taking home 40+ C and 50+ A trophies. Monty Price also won two classes, the Open and 30+ B eve n ts . Another good performance was logged by Puchmou n ted Debbie Weller, winner of the Women's class.
