DATS Racing, with Dale Kieffer and Dax Snow doing the riding, fini sh ed a thrilIing second, a single bike len gt h in front of O hio Superbike 's Mark Junge, team ed wi th Daniel Bailey, at the end of S the 60-m inute race. TBR Racing's Sea n Goff and Scott Herbs t also com ple ted 25 lap s, o ne bette r th a n the Ana heim Yamaha of Dean Mizda l an d Brian Parriott and the Ohio Su per bike II entry of And rew Raff and Dan Wade. Of the 15 starters, 10 were running at th e en d and among th e non-fin ishers were some of the machines expected to con tend for the podium. First out were the Dutchman Racing Yamaha of Ray Yoder and Moto Liberty Honda's Gerald Rothman Jr. Yoder an d Rothman Jr. came tog ether in th e firs t turn on the first lap , Yoder going off the track and ou t of the race and Rothman Jr. returning to the back of the paddock for 'repairs, Moto Liberty never restarted . On the second lap , the Erion Racing H ond a CBR900RR o f D ou g Tolan d didn't cross the line, sto pp ing wit h bottom -end problems towa rd the end of the lap w ith Toland pus hing it up th e lon g fin ishing straight. That meant th at EBCSO Industries Suzuki was the only true front-runner remaining in the race. It also meant that, barring misfortune, the race was theirs. Polen was lappin g in the 2:16 range and pulling awa y from the field at a ra te of about six or sev en seconds a lap. By the thi rd lap, he had a 27-second cushion and, still, he was about to low er the p ace. Once he got down into the 2:15s and 2:14s, the team brought him in at the halfw ay mark to let Qu arterley fin- ish. The race for second was actually a goo d one w ith Oh io Sup erbi k e and DATS Racing going back and forth right down to 'the final lap. Two laps later, Junge was in front of Dax Snow, the p ai r swappi ng on th e next lap, and several mor e times afterwards . Ending the 25th lap, it w as Sno w again in front, and he was able to hold off Junge at th e line by abo u t one bi ke length .
