When purchasing a cruiser, authenticity and tradition are paramount considerations, and
this is there the competition falls short. Yamaha offers two mid-sized cruisers that embody
theclassic look most people are looking for in a motorcycle; the Virago 535 and 53~ SPecial.
The Yamaha cruisers have genuine V-twin engines, low-slung frames, stylish chromed
looksand a distinctbass exhaust note. The plush, raked-put front forks, the forward mountedfootpegs and thelowseat put the riderin the classic cruising position.
Other standard Virago tech features include a low-maintenance shall drive, worry-free
electronic ignition and dual-piston front disc brakes. And to add style to the cruisers are real
chrome wire-spoke wheels, dualbobbed exhaust and a fat rear tire.
Such features combined with the chromed rear brake plates and the highly polished
enginecomponents make theVirago a very desirable ride.
The Virago Special includes extra features such as polished and chromed engine cases,
clutch lever, brake lever, horn and carburetor covers, It also sports a deeply upholstered seat
and a detailed two-toned color scheme.
The 1996 Virago 535 comes in Fire Red while the 535 Special is two-tone Traditional
BluelWhite. Both are available at participating Yamaha dealers nationwide.
Since its inception, the Yamaha FZR600'" has remained a favorite among 600cc sport bike
enthusiasts.

When the road gets twisty, the FZR shines. Thanks to Yamaha's race-developed Deltabox
frame and swingarm design, the FZR possesses unmatched precision steering and handling.
With the FZR's trademark agility and suspenslcn feedback, the rider feels confident either when
upright and at speed orwhen heeled over in aturn.
The heart of the machine is Its power plant, a liquid cooled 599cc engine with Yamaha's raceproven, Genesis design. With smooth, controllable power provided by forward inclined cylinders
which are fed byfourstraight-intake
•
32mm Mikuni carburetors, the FZR is a model of efficiency. To keep all of this power and
speed in check the FZR600 comes with dual 298mm disc brakes upfront, and a 245mm disc in
the rear.
Surrounding all of this high-tech super-sport hardware is one of the most comfortable sport
bikedesigns around. Inpaying as much attention to ergonomics asto performance, Yamaha I?roduced a bikethat is as accommodating on the freeway and in the city asit is carving up twiSty
cany'ons and backroads. In the end, potential buyers are given one of the best sport bike values
available.
In 1996 the FZR600 Is offered in White/Red/Purple and Dark SliverRed/Black color schemes
/
and Is available atparticipatingYamaha dealers nationwide.
