Going a day's best 6-8 through the two checks, Spence easily overcame his one-point deficit entering the section and earned the overall crown with a 20 card. Jack Lafferty Jr. went 7-10through the section, and coupled with the solid morning effort earne d him the seco nd ove ra ll slot; 22 points d own on the da y. Afterwards, Lafferty said he was pleased with the section; bu t added, "It was a lot harder than I expected ." Richard Lafferty and WER's Drew Smith each dropped 20 through the section, going 8-12 an d 7-13, respectively . Richard stayed in the ECEA points hunt with a 27 card and third overall finish, while TM 12S-m ounted Smith finis hed fourth overall with a 29, earnin g him the High Point A trophy. While admitting he was lucky to have a good number (row three), Smith observed, "Its cornmon to have these kind of sections in European ev ents, excep t that they're tougher and longer. " Rounding out the top five overall was Tricounty's Craig Cossaboon with a 34/418 score , ed gin g HPA runner -up Mike Arend owsy who posted a 34/459. In all, a third of the A class houred out in the finaI section. In other class action, OCCR's Torn Britton posted another High Point B victory, with a nine-point score on the abbreviated B loop. HPB runner-up with a 10 score was John J. Robb ins. Open-class rider Robert King earned High Point C honors with a 17-point card; runners-up were Jerry Gribble and Dan Stoppi Jr. who posted 195. Dan Van Oriel upset Joe Galle for the Masters-elass win, while Audrey Harris was the top Women's-eIass competitor. After the event, riders had vastly d ivergent opinions on the merit of the event's new, tough section.
