Kevin Lampe was working his way to the front,
getting by Hoffman in the starting-line co mer
for fifth.
The battle for the lead heated up on the third
lap when Carrier too k the inside line on the fast
straightaway, setting up jones for the pass. Carr ier had the best li ne in the nor th co rner
approaching the 85-foot tri ples. jo nes kep t his
cool keeping the pressure on Carrier.
Carrier held the lead to the checkers, with
Jones just a tick off the pace in second. Gess ner
charged home in third, Lampe carded fourth,
and Hoffman completed the top five.
jones grabbed the holes ho t in the final 250cc
moto. Lampe, Carrier, Harris, Hoffman roun ded
the first comer in fonnation. Jones continued to
cruise out front, with Lampe un de r attack by
Ca rri e r . It looked as though Ca rrier got by
Lampe in the north triple-jump area , but Lampe
denied his advances. Gessner worked into the
top five by passing Harris in the finish- line rocker sect ion.
Jones, entering the rocker section on the fifth
lap , cased the do uble jump, losing precious time
and letting Lampe an d Carrier take away the
cushion he had built up .

smoo th on the fina l circu it, taking the win.
