(Left) The Kawasaki KX250SR Jeff Matlasevlch rode to victory looks nearly identical to last year 's factory bike except for the color, having dropped the purple tank and radiator shrouds for traditional green plastic. The motor Is supposedly completely different than the '95 factory bike . (Below) Many of the bikes were seen with these " high tech " devices - wooden sticks safety wired to the handlebar grips to give the riders a better handhold In the wet conditions. (Above) The Yamaha VZ250M featured no obvious major changes, though a new case-reed engine and a leaf suspension system Is being tested In Europe. (Left) Ron Tichenor rode th is factory Suzuki RM250WS at the series-opener. The yellow and black machine loo ks very sim ilar to last year 's bike , though it does have new frame dimensions.
