In th e first moto, Pa yne took the ho lesho t ahea d of Gerado Rojas. 125cc Pro Rodolfo Sevilla was mixing it up w ith the fron t-runners until the soft sand sucked the life from his machine. John Ramphs ra n close to the front bu t fade d near the end to a fifth-place finish . At the end it was Payne, Sevilla and Rojas filling out the top three positions. Mo to two saw Sevill a ju m pi ng to an early lead over Ivan Navarre t and never looking back. This time with double rim locks and a de flated rear tire, he was never cha llenged. Payne again took command of the Novice class and rod e consistently the whole race. At the end it was Sevilla takin g top honor s in th e 125cc Pro class. Payn e was first 250cc Nov ice, followed by Gerado Rojas, Rene Pancheco and John Ramphs. In the 250cc Expert d ivision it was Je remy Toyle with the holeshot followed by FMF ride r 'Ma tt Berau lt. Toyle and Berault battl ed for three laps before Berault went by in the back section ove r one o f the larg er sand dunes. N arrow ly missin g a specta tor crossin g the tr ack, Berault hung tou gh to the end for the moto win . In the seco nd mo to, Toyle again jumped out to an early lead and began to pull away with Edy Ga nja holding secon d . Beraul t mired in a mid pa ck start b ut wo rked his way past Garcia on the second lap and loo ked to be closing on Toyle. During the fou rth lap Berau lt had problems keep ing h is sunny side up and missed his chance at an overall for the day.
