By th en , however , Wind ha m w as long go ne and Pich on was forced to settle for a distant second. The reign ing Eastern Regional Champion has yet to beat Windham, and he was visibly upset after the race. "I got a bad sta rt and could d o noth ing abou t Windham ," he said . "I know that I can beat him. Windham ha s no pressure o n him . James Dobb is his onl y competition, and he' s no pr essure. I h ave pressure . I h ave Ferry a nd Dowd." After succu mbing to Pich on , Dowd had no problems ho lding down third. The Suzuki rider scrapped w ith Hughes for several laps before giving up third, and rod e a relatively lonely race after tha t. Brad sh aw started the race 10th and wo rked up to fifth by the sixth lap. With tha t, however, his charge towa rd th e front was finished, and he crossed the finish line three seconds behind Lusk . "This track was a little hard to make up time on, bu t it was a good track," said Bradshaw. "I got to tum one p retty good , bu t I was on the inside and I got pin ched off." LaRocco, Lawr ence, Emig, Ward and Swink round ed out the top 10. As us ual, Lawrence was the highest-placing privateer. The reigning I2Scc National Champion had ju st mo ved into fourth place wh en he cased a small jump enteringa tum. "I cased it and the bike swa p ped left, then right ," sa id Lam so n.
