Series regular Jared Sm ith on h is KTM made a respectable showing to gamer third in 250cc A-class action. Former National Hare Scrambles cha mp Tony Hendon; on his Su zuki of Paris Suzuki RMX, bounced back from a slow s tart to pass series rival Bryan Adams near the end of the first lap an d never let up to the finish. He returned to the winners' circle after losing for the first time in a long time at last week's race. In the Open class, fo r m e r class cha m p Harv ey Whitaker power h is And y's Honda XR600 to victory, beating out Husqvarna-moun ted Craig H ayes to the finish line. Kawasaki rider Robe rt Atkins held off the advances of Honda rider Mike Stinson to nab third. Sarges Cycle's Chris Beard rode his big-bo re Honda faster than an yone else in the Open B class, while Kawasaki rid er Robert Lich finished a close second. Beard and Lich traded the lead back and forth all race long, making for an exciting race . . In 250cc B action, Tim Pool put his Kawasaki in the win column, beating out local rider Gary Hendricks. Two Yamaha riders continued their series-long ba ttle for the 125cc B-class title. Kevin Creekmur and Kip Haynie mi xed it up and it was Creekmur getting the upper hand this time. Kawasaki KDX200-mounted Clint Robinson extended his series points lead in the 200cc B class as he held off series rival Ronald Shipper, also on a KDX, to take an important win. Series regular Robert Stephens, aboard his Honda XR, he ld on to tak e first over a hard-charging Eddy Taylor, also on an XR, in the Four-Stroke class. Rick y Whitely took over where he left off at round seven to take top honors on his Kawasaki in the Heavy Trail cl ass. Suzuki-mounted Jason Dickey was the .runner-up, John Giles put in another solid performa nce Yamaha, topping series rival John Freidli in the Senior class: Atlanta's John Kealey and his Husky he ld of ATK-mounted Paul Michels to win the Senio r class.
