past before they hit the triple /double in
unison. Del-loop foun d his advantag e in
an inside line through the next tum, but
that advantage lasted only one lap as
Palmer . reclaimed th e advantage
through the whoops. Palmer then shot
off the rear of his bike on lap seven as he
looped out over the double and landed
butt-first while his bike contin ued on
into the hay bales.
The race was red-flagged to safely
allow the medica l personnel to get
Palmer off the track, and the riders were
restarted single file according to their
position on the lap p r evi ous to the
crash. Cooper was in front with Gaddis,
Buehl, DeHoop and Doug Stone second
through fifth . .Though Co op er w as

DeHoop got by Stone and Buehl over
the triple/double , knocking Buehl back
to fifth place.
Gaddis continued to pressure Cooper

Buehl finally regained and pulled w ithin striking distance of DeHoop. Buehl
blew down the straightaway and outbraked DeHoop to take over th ird as
Cooper took the w in wi th Gaddis second, to the delight of the crowd.
"1 tried to get Coop early, bu t 1 just
couldn't," Gaddis said. "Coop was riding really good and 1 was jus t thinking
that Coop isn 't riding the whole series,
and 1 am . So 1 just settled into second
and kept my points lead."
" Us old guys have to really work
ha rd and Jimmy made me work really
hard for this win," Cooper said. " But 1
could hear all of you cheering. That's
what's so fun about arenacross racing... 1
can hear you cheering for me."
But it was a somewhat disappointed
Buehl who took to the podium after fin- .

" Wh y co u ldn't we have gone 30
laps?" Buehl said . "1 was really just getting sta rted after tha t res tart when the
race was over . Jimm y still has the points
lead even though 1 won twice this weekend and he only won once. I get two
points ahead, then go two points back.
Oh, well, that's racing."
