De Hoop waged war . Pa lmer he ld off De Hoop only to have DeHoop battle past before they hit the triple /double in unison. Del-loop foun d his advantag e in an inside line through the next tum, but that advantage lasted only one lap as Palmer . reclaimed th e advantage through the whoops. Palmer then shot off the rear of his bike on lap seven as he looped out over the double and landed butt-first while his bike contin ued on into the hay bales. The race was red-flagged to safely allow the medica l personnel to get Palmer off the track, and the riders were restarted single file according to their position on the lap p r evi ous to the crash. Cooper was in front with Gaddis, Buehl, DeHoop and Doug Stone second through fifth . .Though Co op er w as ahead on the restart, Gaddis pu t on immed ia te pressure w hile Bu ehl cou ldn't seem to 'g e t h is rhy th m . DeHoop got by Stone and Buehl over the triple/double , knocking Buehl back to fifth place. Gaddis continued to pressure Cooper b ut finally seemed to settle into second. Buehl finally regained and pulled w ithin striking distance of DeHoop. Buehl blew down the straightaway and outbraked DeHoop to take over th ird as Cooper took the w in wi th Gaddis second, to the delight of the crowd. "1 tried to get Coop early, bu t 1 just couldn't," Gaddis said. "Coop was riding really good and 1 was jus t thinking that Coop isn 't riding the whole series, and 1 am . So 1 just settled into second and kept my points lead." " Us old guys have to really work ha rd and Jimmy made me work really hard for this win," Cooper said. " But 1 could hear all of you cheering. That's what's so fun about arenacross racing... 1 can hear you cheering for me." But it was a somewhat disappointed Buehl who took to the podium after fin- . ishing third. " Wh y co u ldn't we have gone 30 laps?" Buehl said . "1 was really just getting sta rted after tha t res tart when the race was over . Jimm y still has the points lead even though 1 won twice this weekend and he only won once. I get two points ahead, then go two points back.
