ROUND 5 OF THE Naumec gassed it to the front of the pa ck . By lap three it was Tichenor, Skaggs, O'Connor and Curry. Naumec dove into a berm, trying to pass Skaggs, and crashed. Curry wa s in the th ir d spo t by lap five and wore down Skaggs to take over the eventual second on lap 12. "The track got deeper and rougher on every lap," said Ticheno r. "I am amazed that the borrowed bike worked so well. With a little gearing change it will be even better." Skaggs led Lorusso, Tichenor , Treadwell, Barton, Naumec and Joel Dengler in the opening lap of mota tw o. Tichenor checked off Lorusso first, then Skaggs a few turns later and then virtue ally put the mota on ice after the first lap, showing the best conditioning of any rider in the series. Skaggs held Treadwell at bay . Near the end of the mota, Curry joined the leaders, bu t had to settle for third in the mota and second overall. Ricky Carmichael is back! The Kawasaki Team Green rider returned from kne e surgery wi th a ve ngeance and scored six malo wins in the 12SecB, 250cc B, and 16-24 classes. "I 'm really g la d to be ba ck," sa id Carmichael. "The knee feels good now. I'm trying to smooth out my riding after the layoff." . ~ Dade City Raceway Dade City . Flori da Results : J anuary 20-21 125 PRO: 1. Ronnie Tichenor (Suz ); 2.
