"I seem to ride pretty aggressive at the
sta rt of the night, but m y arms have been
getting tired," sa id Ferry. "The tracks are
too easy . You ha ve to be twice as fast as
the next guy to make a pass - th ey need to
d o so m ething about th ese tracks."
Windham p assed P ich on in th e
whoops on lap three, but th e numberone pl ate h older responded with a picture-perfect block pass in th e third tum.
The next two laps saw th e two exchange
severa l m ore p asses .tha t had the crowd
o n th eir feet, but b y lap five , W indham
had taken over for good .
W ith e ac h p a s s ing lap, Windham
ad d ed to his lead and greeted th e ch eckered flag with e ig h t se co n d s to spare.
'The last h al f of th e ra ce w as d efin itely
longe r th a n t he first ha lf," said W in d ham, who be came th e first Yamaha rider
to win a 125cc m ai n si n ce Ch ad Pederso n w o n th e San Diego final in '93. "This
is g reat. Now I gotta get a streak go ing.
